Cantori - Newest Voices in East Texas

Remember the first time you sang in a really good choir? When your ears awoke as if you were experiencing music for the very first time? For many, this moment occurs in a college or university setting, and leaves a deep impression on the mind and soul about what music can be when it is truly at its best.

Upon leaving the student world however, what opportunities exist to continue making music at a high artistic level? It was for this reason that I organized CANTORI - Choral Artists of East Texas, in January of this year. Comprised of UT Tyler choral alumni, music educators, advanced high school students, and auditioned singers from throughout the region, CANTORI presents inspiring performances of excellent choral music which have a lasting, edifying value for both the singer and the listener.

In this our inaugural year, we commenced with highly-attended concerts of— the masterful “Duruflé Requiem,” a cool vocal evening entitled “A MidSummer’s Night Jazz,” and an inspirational night of sacred music and scripture, “Lift Up Your Heart: An Evening of Sacred Song.” All were beautiful and successful performances.

I invite you to join us as a singer, audience member, or supporter of CANTORI - Choral Artists of East Texas, as we continue to build, grow, and seek to enrich the singers and audiences of the East Texas region for many years to come.
